Gum Arabic Powder - Acacia Senegal

Acacia Senegal is the benchmark species in the Gum Arabic trade, long preferred for flavour encapsulation and beverage applications. The spray dried form carries a moisture loss ceiling of 10%, total ash no more than 4%, and a pH of 4–5 measured in a 25% solution. Viscosity holds at a minimum of 60 cPs under the same conditions, and optical rotation falls between −35° and −20° — the negative range that distinguishes Senegal from its Seyal counterpart.

Microbiological limits are tightly controlled: total viable count under 2,000 cfu/g, yeasts and moulds under 100 cfu/g, with E. coli and Salmonella both absent. Heavy metals comply fully: arsenic under 3 mg/kg, lead under 2 mg/kg, mercury and cadmium each under 1 mg/kg. Free from starch and tannin impurities.

Primary Applications: Flavour encapsulation, wine and beverage stabilization, confectionery glazing, bakery coatings, pharmaceutical film coatings.

Gum Arabic Powder - Acacia Seyal

Acacia Seyal shares the same spray drying process and base specifications as Senegal but differs in two measurable ways. Optical rotation is positive +35° to +60°, a well-established chemical marker that separates the two species analytically. The total viable count ceiling is stricter at under 1,000 cfu/g, and granulometry requires a minimum of 90% of particles below 200 μm. Colour falls within 4° to 10° Lovibond.

All other quality parameters align with Senegal: moisture under 10%, total ash under 4%, pH 4–5, minimum viscosity 60 cPs, E. coli and Salmonella negative, heavy metals within applicable limits, and no detectable starch or tannin.
